For people who want a Lubuntu 9.10 ISO, don’t search too much, there is no official release of Lubuntu 9.10.
Instead, you can try it by installing the lubuntu-desktop package (you need the multiverse repository activated). Additionally, if you want to test a minimal installation of Lubuntu :
- Install a command-line system with an Ubuntu alternate ISO (see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/LowMemorySystems#Install an Ubuntu command-line system). Be careful, this will install a system without any graphical interface.
- Install lubuntu-desktop : sudo apt-get install –no-install-recommends lubuntu-desktop
- Reboot
Lubuntu 9.10 is more a prototype than a real release, more will come for Lubuntu Lucid : new shiny packages, new artwork, and maybe new default applications. If you want to help, all informations are available on the wiki page, and on the mailing list.

I am just asking….
Should the command be:
sudo apt-get install xorg –no-install-recommends lubuntu-desktop
I understand the lubuntu-desktop and no apps, but does it not still need the x server? If I am wrong I apologize.

The xorg server is already part of the lubuntu-desktop package, so you should not need to install it manually 🙂

Bonjour,
je viens de faire deux install dans virtualbox à partir de Karmic 64bits. Une avec –no-install-recommends et l’autre sans.
Dans l’install avec les paquets recommandés, démarrage sans problème.
Avec l’autre impossible de passer l’écran de login. Il s’affiche mais « freeze ». Ce n’est pas bloqué complètement, mais j’ai un sablier, et la vitesse de la machine semble être divisée par 100. Je n’arrive même pas à choisir le bureau (notez qu’aucun n’est sélectionné par défaut en bas à droite, mais je n’y ait pas accès.

Hi i have downloaded 9.10 version and nothing seems to show me the instalation. It appears a text than says press enter or enter live to start lubuntu. Is that only a live cd?
